This is my mom’s cookie recipe. I’m not biased; these are yummy! When I was little, she would have these made and in the cookie jar before my brother got home from school. As soon as he was in the house, she’d put a couple cookies on a napkin, and I’d sit my little legs up to the dining room table. Mmmm… These cookies taste like home.
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups oatmeal
- 1/2 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Beat together eggs, butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy.
In another bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add all at once to sugar mixture and combine well.
Mix in oatmeal and raisins.
Shape cookies into little balls using a spoon. Roll each cookie ball in sugar before baking. (This is fun to do with your kids!)
Place cookie balls on cookie sheet, with a little space between each one so they can spread as they bake. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
Try not to eat them all in one sitting.
